This maths resource relates to place value: tens and ones and is ideal for whole class and small group settings. Use as a lesson starter, plenary or for a practical lesson on tens and ones. Aimed at: Keystage 1 It contains resources to enable the educator carry out activities to reinforce children’s learning of place value. I have suggested 7 activities in the Teacher’s Note. You can adapt to suit the abilities of your students. The ultimate learning objective is for the students to understand the importance of place value relating to 2-digit numbers. This product is on the topic of All About Me. Aimed at: Reception/Year1 and Year 2. Use for ESL/EFL students for speaking about themselves and about other people. <strong>Content:</strong> • Teacher Notes (2 pages) • 42 Question Cards (colour and plain background) – Laminate and cut out • Rules for whole class activities using the question cards • Digit cards 1 – 32 (patterned and plain): Laminate and cut out • Worksheet (1 page) • Blank question and digit cards for your use **The question cards can be used in various ways. ** This is option 2. Arrange students in a semi-circle. Whole class activity – Laminate and cut out the flashcard numbers and randomly hand them out to the students. Print, laminate and cut out the question cards and place a selection in the centre. You select a question card and then to choose a student to answer the question, say ‘I want whoever has number 7 to answer the question.’ The student that has card number 7 answers the question. If you would like other students to answer the same question, then just say e.g. ‘I want whoever has card number, e.g. 23, to answer the same question.’ Depending on timing, you can decide on how many questions to select from the pack. Working in Pairs or small groups Students shuffle some question cards and lay them face down on the table. They take turns to turn over a card and ask each other questions. Worksheet – All About Me This is a single worksheet for students to complete. Activities on the worksheet: Draw a picture of themselves; write their name Age Birth date Write the colour of their hair and colour in the picture Write the colour of their eyes and colour in the eye picture Complete the six boxes. CVC words fun activities with picture cards for Reception and Year 1/PreK and K. Learning intention: Blending/segmenting CVC words for reading and writing. This product contains: • Teacher’s Notes and Answer Sheet for carousel activity • 30 CVC Word Search Strips with pictures (6 pages) • 30 CVC Sentence Strips to read and find CVC answer (6 pages) • Find and Write CVC List Worksheets –With headings Table 1 to Table 6 for carousel • 36 Pictures (not labelled) for CVC List Worksheets above (Laminate/cut out) • 36 Pictures labelled for other suggested activities <strong>30 CVC Word Search Strips with pictures (6 pages)</strong> There are 6 worksheets each containing 5 CVC word search strips. The students look at the picture and then search for the word in the strip. When found, they colour or shade in the word. You can cut the strips out and stick into students’ phonics book. <strong>30 CVC Sentence Clue Strips (6 pages)</strong> These worksheets are for the more able that can read and decode words. The students read the sentence which gives a clue to the CVC word to look for in the mini word search strip. The strips contain two CVC words, but only one is correct. For example: This animal barks. He/She then looks for the word in the strip and colour or shade in the word. You have the option of cutting out the strips and selecting those you feel are suitable for your students and sticking them into workbooks or the students can complete the worksheets. <strong>Find and Write Carousel Activity</strong> The students are up and moving in this activity. Once they have completed the task on table 1, they then move on to table 2 with a different selection of pictures with Table 2 Worksheet CVC List and so on to Table 6. Each table contains a set of different pictures which relates to each worksheet with the same pictures. Children work in table groups. When the children change tables, hand out the ‘Find and Write List’ for that table for children to write on. You can set a time limit for working on each table. The students look at the worksheet for, e.g. table 3. They will see six pictures. They find the pictures that match what is on their worksheet and write the CVC word for that picture. <strong>Make sure they write their names on their worksheet before handing them in and going on to the next table activity with new words and pictures.</strong> <strong>Other Suggested Uses</strong> Extra group activity – Select some of the laminated pictures cards and ask the children to write the cvc words for those cards on their whiteboards. This product contains a set of worksheets relating to place value: tens and ones - No regrouping. Aimed at: Year 1/Year 2; SEN If your pupils are still struggling with the concept of partitioning/splitting numbers into tens and ones and adding and subtracting mentally, then this resource provides hands-on activity. Once the pupils have grasped the basic, they can then match the tens and ones buttons to base 10 blocks. Content: Worksheets (x4) - Understanding numbers. Pupils count the buttons and draw around 10 and count on the ones. They write the number and partition it following the example on the worksheet. E.g Count 12, circle 10 buttons - write 10 and 2 and show that it is 1 ten and 2 ones. Addition of two-digit numbers worksheets (x5) : The first page shows pupils an example (add the tens and then the ones) and then they complete the two sums. The remaining 4 worksheets require the pupils to cut and paste tens and ones to match the equations and then solve it. Subtraction of two-digit numbers worksheets (x4 : The first worksheets explains that the pupils need to take away the tens and then the ones. E.g. 15 - 11 = Pupils cut and paste tens and ones for the first number only. Then they look at the second number ‘11’ and cross out the tens and then the ones. Here are some additional worksheets on numbers and number words. A lovely addition to Numbers/Number Words 1 and 2. Number word to number match up Worksheets (x5) - Children draw a line from a number word to match up to its numeral. Each worksheet gets harder. Counting worksheets (x4) - Each ten frames shows different number of dots which the children count and write in words in the space provided. Double Ten Frames Read and Draw worksheets (x3)- Teen numbers up to 20. Children read the number words and then draw the same number of dots. One more/one less worksheets (x5) - Children read the numbers in words and then write in words one less and one more on either side of the number word. In addition, two of the worksheets have a missing letters activity. Children insert the missing letters in the number words. Doubles worksheets (x3); and Writng doubles number sentences worksheets (x5) - Each box contains robots which the children count. They write the number in figures and in words. Then they double the number and write in figures and words. The worksheets are differentiated in that some children may be able to write doubles number sentences. Please note it is a hands on resource and the lesson plan should be used in conjunction with the presentations as there is a lesson starter presentation. It can be used for reviewing tens and ones or teaching it from scratch, so the detailed lesson plan is flexible. Some preparation is needed to carry out the activities such as collection of different coloured straws, elastic bands, suggested materials such as counters, unifix cubes; cut out the 1 digit number tiles for the worksheet or you can get children to select two numbers from a pile, write it down and then describe the place value - see 5. in the list below. A dragon-themed resource relating to place value: tens and ones. Content: - Worksheet 1 (3 pages) - Students group the dragons in tens and then add on the ones to make the number which they write in the blank box. - Worksheet 2 (10 pages) -This is a cut and paste activity where by the students partition the number at the top into tens and ones by cutting out dragons and sticking the correct number of dragons in the labelled circles (tens/ones). - Worksheet 3 (10 pages) - This is a cut and paste activity as above but the activity goes one step further whereby the students write the number in a place value frame or grid. - Worksheet 4 (5 pages)(extension) - This is for the more able and the students are ready for the next step. UPDATED with two trace and write sentences worksheets for the more able students. This product contains a set of worksheets relating to CVC phonics work. Students practise reading, writing and drawing CVC words. The worksheets can be used as assessment to check on the progress of individuals and so the worksheets are ideal for small group work. Teacher Notes included. The worksheets are: • Read and Write (3 Worksheets) Sight words: I, can, see and a. Students complete each sentence with a missing word using the picture as a visual aid. When they have used the word, they tick the box below the picture. The students can colour in when they have finished. • Read and Draw (7 Worksheets) Students read the CVC word by sounding out and blending and then draw the picture that represents the word. They can trace inside the letters with a pencil or with different colour pencils to make rainbow words. As an extension activity for the more able students, they can use sight words they know to write a sentence using each word on the worksheet below the picture, on whiteboards or into their workbooks. • Read and Trace (4 Worksheets) These worksheets can be used as guided reading in a small group setting or one-to-one teaching. <strong>This resource is about the lost son parable relating to forgiveness. It is for whole school assembly.</strong> It contains: PowerPoint Presentation Teacher’s Guide on how to conduct the assembly Playscript of the Parable Posters for display Cross-curricular to Religious Studies and Citizenship. The theme is ‘forgiveness’ based on The Parable of the Lost Son. Learning Objective: To understand what forgiveness means. Children are asked why we should say ‘sorry’ and understand the meaning of forgiveness and understanding. The children are asked about their own experience of getting hurt and wanting that person to say sorry and what it feels like if they don’t apologize. They are taken through the story and asked questions along the way. I’ve written a playscript based on the story. You may wish to have a group of children act out the story instead of reading it on the slides. There are questions on the slides for children to think about.

This phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘pr’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred and child-friendly and Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. Aimed at: Foundation stage and Keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This pack contains: Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. Because the lesson plan is flexible you can choose a 15 min phonic input, 30 mins or an hour phonics input. PowerPoint Presentation 1 (29 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities. It also explains meanings of words through pictures. PowerPoint Phoneme Presentation (17 Slides)- Optional (Use as reference - some children may still be struggling with segmenting/blending) - I have listed all the CCVC words (13) and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures) - extension some children may be able to give you other meaning for the words in a sentence. I have illustrated through clipart words such as ‘press’ ‘prep’ ‘prim’, ‘prop’ and ‘prom’. Flashcards and words with and without sound buttons and lines. (Laminate for long use) Set of pictures and words for matching activities (8) - Small group practical activities. (Laminate and cut apart for use) Activity 1 - 2 Sets of cut/paste activities (1 set with handwriting lines, the other set without), (5 activity sheets in each set) Worksheet 1 - Completing initial missing blends and then writing out the words and drawing pictures for each word. Worksheet 2 - Unscrambling the words and writing them opposite each picture, Writing a sentence for each of the 4 words. Worksheet 3 - for the more able students - very short text called ‘The Proof’ to review ‘pr’. Students read the text and answer 4 questions, circle ‘pr’ CCVC words and and write a sentence for each one - (2 different writing lines). You can combine the set of pictures and words with the other resources I have done on consonant blends - creating a set of pictures and words for future use. This is an extra resource on the Euro currency coins 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, 1 euro and 2 euro coins. Updated 17 May 2022 include versions 2 an 3 reflecting how the euro/cents are written, e.g. €2.25 or 2,25€ and cents written as ‘c’. Aimed at: KS1 students learning about the euro/cents, EFL/ESL students The worksheets are in colour and black and white. ANSWERS are provided where appropriate. Each of the four worksheets contain a variety of tasks for students to complete on the topic of buying school stationery. Worksheet 1 - Students look at the pictures and price of each item and then work out how much two items of school supplies cost. Two questions at the bottom: Which student spent the most? Which student spent the least amount of money? Worksheet 2 - This worksheet is similar to the above except students add three items of stationery together. Worksheet 3 - Students answer 6 questions about the items, e.g. Which item is the most expensive? How much less does the eraser cost than the calculator? etc. The next task is to write the new price for each item which has risen by 10 cents. Worksheet 4 - The first task is to write the new price of the items which have risen by 20 euro cents. Second task - to add up 3 items of stationery at the new price. Worksheet 5 - Biggest Euro Sale Now On! - Students reduce the price of each item by 11 cents. They then recalculate the items of stationery bought. Additional worksheets: Drawing coins to match the price tags - students use the fewest number of coins as many times as they can. Add up the coins and write the total on the price tag for each object shown. Challenge: Students add up all the prices on the tags and write the total amount of money spent. See the first example on the worksheet. • Making Words with Ending Blends (3 worksheets) Students can choose any of the final consonant blends to complete the words below the boxes. Once they have made word, the students draw a picture to go with the word because two words can be made with be__ , i.e. best or bend. Both are correct as they are real words. • Colouring activity – Which Word? (3 worksheets) Students sound out the word that goes with the picture in the centre and then colour the correct word that goes with the picture. As an extension activity, on a separate sheet, students can write a sentence with the words that are not coloured in. • Differentiated Cut and paste activities (4 worksheets) The first set of worksheets do not contain pictures. Students cut out the ending blends and match it to the correct starting letters to make a word. When they have made a word, they write out the word neatly on the handwriting lines. Some of your students may need pictures to help them join the ending blends to the letters to make a word. For each word the students make, they can sound out the letters. ** • Cut and paste Consonant Final Blends sort (4 Sheets)** Students sort the pictures into the correct column.
